GARY Rowett is expecting Millwall to play a second friendly match after hosting Brondby at The Den on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions are due to return to Championship action on Saturday, December 3rd, but they are hoping to squeeze in two fixtures ahead of their trip to the Stadium of Light.
It remains to be seen who they might be facing, but Rowett confirmed that the match will be played without any fans in attendance.
“I think we’ve got a behind-closed-doors game on the Tuesday as well,” he told NewsAtDen.
“If that all goes through and gets organised, we’ll have a couple of games where we split the group and try to get everyone a little bit of time on each game to keep that rhythm going really, that’s the challenge.”
It does, however, leave question marks surrounding team selection, with most of the first-team squad unlikely to be able to handle two matches in 72 hours after two weeks away from competitive action.
Rowett admitted that he will likely split the squad in half, meaning that the first-team players will have the chance to play near to 90 minutes in at least one of the two games.
“I think all of our side are first-team players that deserve game time and a chance to maintain that little bit of fitness,” he added.
“It might be an opportunity for one or two of the younger players to join the group. How much game time they’ll get I don’t know, but we’ll try and make sure that the right players get the right amount of game time within the two games.”
