A melting snowman will appear at the top of The Shard this Christmas as part of a dazzling seasonal light display.
It’s one of three designs that will adorn the top twenty storeys of the iconic building throughout the festive period, starting at 5.30pm on Tuesday, November 28.
The artworks have been created by the London School of Mosaic (LSoM) and transformed into dynamic light shows by lighting designer Woodroffe Bassett Design.
Silvie Jacobi, Co-founder of LSoM said: “We’re humbled and very excited to be helping create what must be the highest public art in London, with three very different festive designs which underline the different aesthetic qualities of mosaic from patterns.”
Three different designs will light up the sky from 5.30pm until 1am every night until New Year’s Eve.
The pieces are all animated, with the larger-than-life snowman appearing with a red scarf and hat before melting away.
There will also be a softly illuminated Christmas candle that will “radiate festive charm” and a festive pattern inspired by a Christmas brooch.
While commuters can look forward to seeing the designs on a daily basis, people will be able to see the lights from 40 miles away.
