A statue of a man who was voted ‘the UK’s kindest person’ appears next to Tower Bridge.
Passersby may have spotted the six-foot figure outside the Tower Hotel today (November 13), which depicts Sebbie Hall.
At just twenty years old, Sebbie has received the prize for his ‘kind acts’ which have supported over 450 families across the UK.
Living with a rare chromosomal disorder which has caused him physical and communication difficulties since birth, Sebbie was determined to give back.
Three years ago, he reportedly made it his mission to do a random act of kindness every day. With the help of his mum, he later set up the Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation – which focused on helping vulnerable youngsters.
So far they have donated tens of thousands to individuals, community groups and projects in their local area – including giving 400 coats and blankets to homeless charities, placing candles along dog walking routes to cheer people up and gifting 800 toys to children’s homes.
He has now been honoured with a life-size figure of himself, which was erected next to Tower Bridge today (November 13) for one day only.
The statue will then be transported to The Hub in Lichfield, where where it will remain for others to admire and inspire.
KIND Snacks, who were behind the honouring of Sebbie with the statue, kicked off the nationwide search for the UK’s kindest person back in September, receiving over 500 nominations.
The statue is donned with a cape and boasts a heroic stance symbolising his motto, ‘kindness is my superpower.’ Sebbie also wore a cape to pose with the life-like statue when it was revealed to him earlier this morning.
Actor Eddie Marsan, who is patron of the Sebbie Hall Foundation, joined Sebbie and his parents at the statue reveal, commenting: “Seeing such a young person complete so many selfless kind acts and having such humility is extremely commendable.
“It’s incredible to see others recognise this and to see Sebbie’s very own statue revealed in an iconic part of London”.
Sebbie added: “I want to make people happy inside. Kindness is my superpower… Now let’s go and be kind.”
Sebbie, who just yesterday completed his first ever 5km race for Liberty Jamboree, a charity supporting young people with physical or learning difficulties, marked World Kindness Day (November 13) by giving out KIND bars and cards with words of affirmation to strangers in London.
