Three longstanding friends at University Academy of Engineering (UAE Southbank) all got three A* in maths, further maths and physics at A Level last week.
Kevin Jacobs, Adam French and Gabriel Torsello, who have been friends since Year 7 and were UAE Southbank’s top GCSE students in 2019, are now preparing to study computer science at Warwick, computer science at Leeds and maths at Warwick respectively.
Some other high achievers at the Walworth school include:
- Stephanie Azma, who was the best scientist at GCSE in 2019 with three grade 9s in biology, chemistry and physics, will be continuing her science studies at University College London after achieving A* A A.
- Sacha Taylor, who will be attending Sussex to study politics and international relations after achieving AAA in English, history and sociology.
Principal John Taylor said: “Our Year 13 students, some of whom have been students since the school was established in 2014, have worked extremely hard under what have been very difficult circumstances. We are immensely proud of the resilience, determination and commitment they have shown during their studies and the fantastic achievements they have made.
“Many will now be continuing their educational journeys at some of the most selective universities. It has been a pleasure to see them grow and develop into confident young people who are now ready to begin new adventures. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing about their progress and future success.”
