Seven climate change activists have been charged as Extinction Rebellion’s protests continue across London.
The protesters were charged with aggravated trespass after demonstrations at construction sites in Bow and Stratford.
Other demonstrations are taking place in four other cities across the UK – Glasgow, Cardiff, Leeds and Bristol – with activists camped out at Waterloo.
The Met says a policing plan is in place across the city – and action will be taken against those who break the law.
The protest, dubbed a ‘summer uprising’ by campaigners, is pushing for the government to take radical action to cut greenhouse gas emissions to prevent catastophic levels of climate change.
