Bromley is holding a best-decorated Coronation shopfront competition and will broadcast the ceremony outside The Glades shopping centre.
The south London borough council will award a £100 voucher to the winning retailer and a £50 voucher to whoever snaps the best photo of a shop’s coronation display.
And on Saturday, May 6, the Coronation will be broadcasted live outside The Glades, with face painting, arts and crafts and other fun family activities also on offer.
To give your backing to one of the brightly decorated shops, take a photo of their display and submit it online at www.bromley.gov.uk/Coronation by Tuesday, May 2.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, said: “I hope businesses will take this opportunity to contribute to the festive spirit in the borough and we will see many colourful and creative displays across all our parades and high streets.
“I would encourage residents to reward these efforts by nominating your favourite regal shop fronts – which may just land you with a chance to be celebrated as a photographer! This is just the latest of our Coronation plans to help build up enthusiasm locally and celebrate this historic occasion.”
The borough’s high streets have been allocated £20,000 to support Coronation decorations.
Meanwhile, Bromley residents have organised 172 street parties across the borough with the help of small grants from the community celebration fund.
