Residents who fear they may be lonely on Christmas Day are invited to a free slap-up feast, put on each year by a team of volunteers.
The People Care Association has been putting on the annual festive bash since the charity started in the 1970s, feeding 350 people who would otherwise be isolated.
The party, at Bacon’s College, Rotherhithe, includes a traditional Christmas Day meal, entertainment, a raffle, as well as tea and cake. Door-to-door free transport is also put on to get party-goers to and from the bash.
Lorraine Lauder, whose parents set up the organisation, and who has been volunteering at the Christmas Day meals since the start, said:?“It’s nice to see the elderly people with smiles on their faces, to show that we care.” If you would like to find out more, or want to book your place for the Christmas Day meal, call Les on 020 3355 2619 or email pca@looksouth.net. The closing date is December 16.
