Some people are blessed to have a creative talent that puts smiles on faces. Tim Gerard, an Americana, roots-blues rock singer-songwriter, has several and that will be confirmed when he releases his latest album, Right From The Start, in Artdog Gallery, along with a set of eleven paintings to accompany eleven new songs.
Written with author Gordon Torr, ‘during a time of uncertainty and fear’, the stories on the album are an honest and candid account of Gerard’s own experiences as a traveling musician and artist; autobiographical, poetic songs about life, love and loss, through metaphoric imagery. Some songs stress on political deeper meaning, sometimes satirical as well as touching on the romantic side of life and love. As well as songs, that are fuelled with heavy, political and sociological undertones, there are some beautiful ballads.
Gerard reveals his music is influenced by songwriters such as ‘Ray Lamontagne, John Mayer, The Beatles, Sam Cook, BB King and Eric Clapton’, and his vintage sounds by 6s and 70s acts across genres.
Gerard decided to create paintings for his album at a time when gigging and live music was on standstill, and the world was still in the midst of a pandemic. Each painting was inspired by a lyric from each song on his album, symbolising and referencing the lyrics to each song. The paintings were done in watercolour/mixed media on watercolour paper.
Opening for Tim will be Ann Liu Cannon.
Gerard will be performing live the nights of the 7th, and 14th, the gallery and event starts at 6pm and his acoustic performance of his new album at 7.30pm.
