JOE Martin made his return to competitive action in this afternoon’s Elite Development Squad fixture against Coventry City at Calmont Road.
The defender was part of a strong home side that included four players who have featured in the first team this season.
Martin, signed from Gillingham in the summer but yet to make his competitive first-team debut following an ankle injury in pre-season, started the game at left-back.
Ben Thompson and Jack Powell were the central midfield pairing with Paris Cowan-Hall, who came on as a sub against Southend at the weekend, on the right. John Marquis partnered Alfie Pavey up front.
The Coventry side featured three players who were in Tony Mowbray’s first-team squad for their 4-0 win at The Den in August.
Centre-back Keaton Wood gave Millwall a 1-0 lead in the first half before Pavey scored a sensational seven-minute hat-trick after the break to take his personal tally to seven goals this season.
Coventry responded with a late consolation but Justin Skinner’s side have now won four of their last five games in the second tier of the U21 Professional Development League.
