NEIL Harris will be forced into a defensive reshuffle for the visit of Rochdale to The Den this weekend after Joe Martin picked up his fifth yellow card of the season last Saturday against Southend.
Martin, who was taken off after 40 minutes when he was walking a defensive tightrope having been booked for an early foul on Jermaine McGlashan, will serve a one-game ban, with Shane Ferguson (above), Tony Craig and Noah Chesmain in line to replace him at left-back.
Chesmain was part of Millwall-s U23 side that defeated Nottingham Forest 1-0 in their Professional Development League fixture at The Den on Monday. Sid Nelson, who partnered Paul Rooney in the centre of defence in Justin Skinner’s side, could come into the starting XI if Harris decides to shift Craig to the left side of the back four.
“Noah did okay Monday,” Harris said. “He is still raw and has a lot to learn about the game, but he’s improving all the time.
“Fergie is an international left-back and is a really good option for us to play there, and Tony Craig has played a lot of games there over his career.
“We’ve got plenty of options to play in that position.
“It’s a shame to lose Joe at home because he’s been a strong player for us. Me having to take him off at the weekend changed the balance of the game.”
