NEIL Harris said there was nothing in his name being at the top of the lists of bookies’ odds for the Huddersfield Town manager’s job.
At one point last Friday, Harris was favourite with the main bookmakers at odds between evens and 2/1 for the vacant Terriers post.
Huddersfield confirmed on Monday that they had appointed Danny Cowley as their new manager to take over from the sacked Jan Siewert. Cowley’s brother Nicky joins him as assistant manager after Huddersfield agreed compensation for the pair with League One Lincoln.
There was no contact between Huddersfield and Millwall.
“That was bizarre,” Harris said when asked about his vaulting to the top of the odds lists. “The first I knew about it I was sitting in the back of a taxi in London.
“There was nothing in it. Danny Cowley has taken the job and good luck to him and Nicky, they deserve the opportunity at that level.”
