MILLWALL have high hopes for Harry Donovan, according to manager Neil Harris.
Midfielder Donovan, 20, was a regular for the under-23s last season and also impressed the Lions’ senior players when he joined in first-team training.
Donovan joined Millwall from Arsenal in November 2015 but has yet to make a competitive first-team appearance.
He is a defensively minded, physical and aggressive player in midfield, fitting the type that Harris wants in that area.
Donovan will probably be loaned out this summer as he continues his development.
“Harry was one that impressed us last season,” Harris said. “He trained with the first team a lot and the players noticed him and also remarked how much of an impact he made. That’s always a good sign when your peers are saying that about you.
“Harry has found it tough to get in and around the first team because of the form and consistency of the players who were in the team.
“You saw that also with someone of the calibre of Ben Thompson.
“I don’t see Harry in the first-team squad in the first half of next season. A loan deal is the likeliest move for him.
“Hopefully that will be in the Football League, but there is not a lot of difference to the Conference.
“We’re hoping Harry will continue to develop in the way he has so far.”
