GARY Rowett faces a number of selection decisions ahead of today’s match against Bristol City, with Millwall looking to record their first away win since March.
The Lions have used the same lineup for consecutive matches, picking up four points against Rotherham United and Middlesbrough while putting in impressive performances against both.
Rowett’s new 4-2-3-1 formation seems to be working wonders, albeit that he’s refused to rule out reverting to a back five. The likes of Charlie Cresswell and Scott Malone have also been kept out of the squad as a result of the tactical switch, with both surely eyeing a place on the bench as an absolute minimum.
Here’s NewsAtDen’s predicted lineup (4-2-3-1) for this afternoon’s clash against the Robins. Who do you think should start at Ashton Gate? Choose your team using our squad selector here.
Goalkeeper: George Long – Seems to be Millwall’s first choice at the moment ahead of Bartosz Bialkowski.
Right-back: Danny McNamara – Looks a totally different player since being dropped in September. Excellent against Rotherham and Middlesbrough.
Right centre-back: Shaun Hutchinson – Offers leadership in the back line which the Lions have sorely missed, so important to have him back.
Left centre-back: Jake Cooper – Atoned for his error against Rotherham with a big performance at The Den last weekend.
Left-back: Murray Wallace – Millwall’s Mr. Consistent, possibly the first name on the team sheet this season.
Right centre-mid: Billy Mitchell – Improved massively over the course of the season and is now a vital part of Rowett’s 4-2-3-1 formation.
Left centre-mid: George Saville – Statistically one of the best midfielders in the EFL, offers a huge amount in defence and attack.
Right wing: Andreas Voglsammer – Excellent against Middlesbrough and surely an option to play up front, but Millwall are really lacking options on the right flank.
Central attacking midfielder: Zian Flemming – One of the Championship’s in-form players in the last four games, simply undroppable.
Left wing: Mason Bennett – Tyler Burey struggled against Middlesbrough and was brought off after just 57 minutes. Maybe a chance to bring Bennett back into the starting lineup after his injury.
Striker: Tom Bradshaw – Hasn’t quite worked out for the 30-year-old so far this season but really needs a first goal as a confidence boost, which could certainly happen against a leaky Bristol City defence.
