AIDEN O’Brien is due to see a specialist next week regarding his ankle injury.
The striker was stretchered off in the draw to Wimbledon last weekend and will miss all of August with ruptured ankle ligaments.
And Lions head physio Bobby Bacic has revealed O’Brien will receive a “unique” type of procedure.
Bacic told the club’s official site: ”Aiden remains in his protective boot and tomorrow will go for a special type of injection where the specialist will perform a very unique procedure.
“This involves injecting a clinical dextrose (sugar) into the ankle joint which acts as a bridge to knit the two ruptured ends of Aiden’s ligament together.
He added: ”The procedure works best with Aiden’s type of ankle injury and will help him over the long-term to have a stable ankle.
In other news, midfielder Kris Twardek has suffered a fracture dislocation in his second toe and is set to miss out on Saturday’s friendly away at Stevenage, whilst goalkeeper Tom King has moved to National League side Welling United on a one-month youth loan.
