ABU Ogogo has warned his team-mates to expect a hostile atmosphere when Shrewsbury walk out at The Den against Millwall on Saturday afternoon.
It will be the Shrews’ first visit to the stadium for almost 20 years as they seek to climb away from the Sky Bet League One relegation zone.
Millwall have lost just one league game at home in 2016 and are looking for a fourth successive win at The Den. Neil Harris’ side haven’t conceded in their own backyard since the 2-0 defeat to Scunthorpe almost two months ago.
Shrewsbury are just two points above the bottom four, but have lost just two of their last 11 matches in all competitions, against Manchester United in the FA Cup fifth round and Wigan last weekend. They are on a seven-match unbeaten away run in all competitions and have lost just once on the road in 12 since November.
Millwall defeated Micky Mellon’s side 2-1 on the opening day of the season, when Ogogo made his debut for the club following his summer switch from Dagenham & Redbridge. And Ogogo, who came through the ranks with Arsenal, has revenge on his mind as he was in the Dagenham side that lost 5-0 to Millwall in an FA Cup third-round tie in 2012.
“It’s going to be very difficult – it’s not a very nice place to go,” Ogogo told Shropshire Star. “The home fans are on your back and they try to make it as difficult for you as possible.
“So we know what to expect, but we’ve been on a good run, and, after an off-day against Wigan, we need to pick ourselves up and go there and get the right result, so hopefully we can.”
“I’ve played there once before in the cup and we lost, so I owe them one for sure.”
Meanwhile Shrews’ Australian midfielder James Wesolowski, who is in contention to feature this weekend after recovering from injury, added: “It’s one of the grounds I haven’t played at so I would love to go there.
“It will be a great atmosphere. I think that will help us and get us going.
“We probably need a couple of more wins so the sooner we do that, the better.
