ELITE Development Squad manager Just Skinner has praised his Under 21 side after progressing into the quarter-final of the Premier League Cup.
The young Lions saw off the challenge of Wolves on Monday evening winning the tie 3-1 thanks to goals from Fred Onyedinma, Mahlon Romeo and a returning Paris Cowan-Hall.
And Skinner hailed his side’s efforts as “phenomenal” after the victory.
“It’s all down to this group. They are just putting in consistently good performances,” Skinner told Millwall’s official website.
“Their work ethic is phenomenal in every game and they are getting the rewards for that.
“The winning helps because it breeds confidence. Last night we started really well, went a goal in front but even when they pulled one back the lads didn’t panic; they kept going, used their energy and made the most of our goal threat.
“The way they adapt to each other shows that we have a good core to the group. That bodes well not just for now, but also for the next few years.
“What has helped is that the manager has proved that they have a chance to get into the first team, no matter how old they are. With the likes of Ben Thompson, Fred Onyedinma and Alfie Pavey they can see their mates getting minutes for the senior squad and that spurs them on even more.”
