DAVID Martin said he had realised a “dream” after completing a move to West Ham.
Martin, 33, will join the Premier League side on a two-year deal when his contract at Millwall officially expires on July 1.
Martin joined Millwall on a free transfer in September 2017 and made 15 starts, 11 in the league.
The former MK Dons stopper ended the season as Millwall’s number one and was offered a new deal, but has decided to join the club where his father, Alvin, played 598 games.
“Signing for West Ham United is a dream, both for me and my family,” Martin told West Ham’s official website. “I’ve grown up around West Ham and to come to my boyhood club is a dream.
“I came to games as a kid as one of the supporters in the stands at the Boleyn Ground. I loved watching my Dad play, and I’ve continued coming to games throughout my career.
“You can see the impact the fans can have on the team and it gives you goosebumps. The fans at West Ham are brilliant and it’s fantastic to be a part of this great club.”
Martin will compete with ?ukasz Fabia?ski, 34, and Roberto, 33, for a place in the side.
I would like to put on record my thanks to everyone at Millwall football club. I’ve had a great 2 years and I wish you all the very best for the future.
