All the best places to eat healthy grub are now featured on an interactive ‘What Walworth Eats’ map to encourage London university students to support local traders.
The map highlights the diverse range of cuisines from all over the world found within a stone’s throw of Elephant and Castle and Walworth Road.
Designed by the London College of Communication with support from Southwark Council, it is hoped the map will help encourage university students to venture out to new places, and help increase footfall for independent businesses and local traders.
Student photographers helped create the map with high quality images, and digital assistants helped list the businesses on google and provide support with increasing their visibility in online searches.
The eateries include Latin American El Progreso, Italian La Luna, health food shop Baldwins, Peruvian Sabor Peruano, and Domincan restaurant El Rincon Tropical.
Gill Henderson, the college’s cultural and communities partnerships manager, said: “We’re delighted that Southwark Council have awarded us funding to support this mapping project.
“Where Walworth Eats is inspired by the cafes, shops and restaurants in and around Walworth road, from Colombian to Thai with everything in between.
“We hope that the businesses will find our photography and online support helpful in expanding their customer base, and that students and Walworth residents will enjoy using the map to explore the many healthy choices on the menu.”
The map will be launched on Thursday, September 19, at a free event open to all with an exhibition and events programme called EMERGENCE, part of London Design Festival 2019,.
