A ‘Fab Five’ Head Girl team who scored impressive A Levels are being hailed by Blackheath High School as indicative of the school’s ‘excellent’ results.
Among them are Zoe Hadsell, who will be attending Cambridge to study English after achieving top A, A*, A grades in French, English and Maths.
“I’ve wanted to go to Cambridge ever since I was aged 8, so I’m absolutely shell shocked that it’s actually happening,” said jubilant Zoe.
“It was my teachers who inspired me to do English and now I’m just so excited to be going!”
Another ‘Fab Five’ member was Freya Cracknell, who followed-up her clean sweep of A* results at GCSE with the same impressive feat at A Level.
“I’m ecstatic, I really want to be a neuroscientist or research scientist and hopefully help discover a cure for cancer one day,” said a joyous Freya after finding out she had won a place at Manchester University to study Biomedical Sciences with French.
Star pupil and Head Girl Hana Khan will be taking a gap year to work and travel in Costa Rica before pursuing a career in medicine or natural sciences.
The other members of the Head Girl team, Monique McIntosh and Emmy McLaughlin, will be studying law at Kent University and Liberal Arts at Durham University respectively.
The school saw a 100 per cent pass rate across the entire A-Level year and 60% of the grades A*, A or B, and 29% of the grades at A*/A.
The school’s head Mrs Carol Chandler-Thompson praised the ‘fantastic’ results at the school and predicted bright futures for the cohort.
“Given this year group’s talent, ambition and dedication to their studies, we are certain that they are going to go on to do great things in the future,” she said.
“It’s wonderful to see them rewarded today and I can speak for everyone at the school when I say that we are very proud of every single one of them.”
