Police spoke to missing Guy’s and St Thomas nurse Owami Davies the same day she was reported missing, it has emerged.
Ms Davies, 24, was reported missing to Essex local police on Wednesday, July 6, but she was not marked as a missing person on national systems.
Later that day, officers attended an address on Clarendon Road, Croydon, where they spoke to a woman. She said she did not want assistance so the officers left.
The subsequent missing person investigation confirmed, on July 13, that officers had spoken with Ms Davies that day.
The IOPC has requested that the matter is referred to them. No officers are under investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards at this time.
Ms Davies’ family and members of an Independent Advisory Group have seen the footage of the interaction, recorded on officers’ bodycams, “to ensure openness and transparency”, according to police.
