Despite cuts to council-funded Christmas lights amid the energy crisis, here are some places across the borough where you can get into the festive spirit…
Castle Square, Elephant and Castle
The Castle Square Christmas tree lights will be switched by the Mayor and Mayoress of Southwark. There is the chance to visit Santa and his elf in his grotto and children can post their Christmas list in Santa’s letterbox.

Lightopia, Crystal Palace Park
There is a trail of vibrant, interactive lights and lantern installations and a sight to see. Each lantern is handmade and hand painted using traditional Chinese methods dating back to the Tang dynasty, plus dinosaurs roaming the trail with you. Don’t miss the 10-metre-long illuminated Pheonix!
