Fisher stayed rooted to the bottom of the SCEFL Premier Division after their three-game unbeaten run came to an end despite the heroics of goalkeeper Nic Taylor against Whitstable at the weekend, writes John Kelly…

After missing some early chances, Whitstable went ahead in the 26th minute when Charlie Smith fired past Taylor.

A minute later Aaron Quain struck the bar from a free-kick, before Dan Eason palmed away a Spencer Forte drive to keep the away side in front.

Fisher fell two goals behind when Craig Thompson scored just before the break. It was always a tough ask for Fisher against a side chasing an eighth successive win and a fifth clean sheet in a row.

Taylor did his best to ensure his side would get something from the fixture with a number of impressive saves.

Fisher’s main threat was Forte, but he was substituted at the break after receiving a yellow card in the first half, to be replaced with Juan David Devia Pineda Two-cap Montserrat international and former Millwall youth player Taylor prevented Whitstable from making it an even more convincing win in added time at the end of the game when he produced a stunning save to keep out Harry Brown’s free-kick. Fisher are a point behind Beckenham Town in the table with a game more played.
