SHAUN Hutchinson thinks it would be “one hell of an achievement” were Millwall to challenge for the play-offs this season.
Hutchinson scored his second goal of the season to secure a 1-1 draw with Sunderland on Saturday.
Millwall are eight points off Bristol City in sixth.
“Everyone likes to think and talk about it but it would be one hell of an achievement if we were to push on for that,” Hutchinson said when asked about a potential play-off push.
“As the gaffer has been saying, our target was 50 points this year. The way we have been playing this season, why not have a go?
“It’s within touching distance. If you pick up points against the teams that are around you, then you never know what can happen.”
Sunderland went ahead on Saturday when Bryan Oviedo punished some slack marking at a corner to fire home from long range.
Hutchinson prodded in the equaliser with 20 minutes left.
Hutchinson said: “I wish we had three points rather than me getting a goal.
“The first half the fans weren’t happy and you could sense the frustration. We’re playing against Sunderland at home – and the fans are booing us at half-time. We’re frustrated as well.
“We saw it as an opportunity for another three points, but they’re fighting for their lives and we couldn’t get the win.
“Normally you’d fancy a team shooting from distance, that it wouldn’t go in. But it’s gone in the top corner and we’re chasing the game from there.
“We have two banks of four and it’s very difficult to break down. Every now and again they pop one in the top corner, whereas last season in League One that didn’t happen. Maybe it’s something we need to look at.”
