LINCOLN City have continued their extraordinary eruption of form by putting five goals past Bristol Rovers.
Alex Mitchell played the full 90 minutes as his side broke a long-standing record and became the in-form team across the whole EFL.
It is now 16 goals in three games for the Imps who, before the 5-0 win against Rovers, beat Barnsley 5-1 and Cambridge United 6-0.
The big victories means Michael Skubala’s team have become the first English league side since Southend United in 1957 to score at least five goals in three consecutive games.
As recently as January the League One side had been on a nine-game winless run but now find themselves two points off the play-offs. They face Leyton Orient next in a huge promotion six-pointer.
Elsewhere, there was also a huge win for Niino Adom-Malaki’s Sutton United who beat relegation rivals Forest Green Rovers 1-0 away from home. But the 20-year-old missed the game with illness.
His teammates put in a shift to leave Steve Morison’s side just three points off safety at the foot of League Two.
Having recovered from a back injury, Kyle Smith has returned to Wealdstone following his impressive loan spell at the London club earlier this season.
He played 62 minutes in a 2-1 win at AFC Fylde to lift Wealdstone away from the National League relegation zone and still with a number of games in hand.
One of those matches is tonight against Bromley where Smith will see fellow Lions loanee Kamarl Grant.
Grant was left on the bench for Bromley’s 0-0 draw against Kidderminster Harriers and has not yet been able to nail down a regular starting spot under Andy Woodman since moving to Hayes Lane on transfer deadline day.
