MILLWALL boss Gary Rowett believes Shaun Hutchinson and Jake Cooper should be hitting double-figures for goals this season.
Cooper got off the mark for the campaign with the equaliser against Barnsley last Saturday. He scored three times last season after a career-high seven goals in 2018-19.
Hutchinson netted six times last season but is still waiting for his first goal of the current campaign after 10 appearances.
Millwall have scored eight goals after seven games compared to five at the same point last season.
“We saw it with Hutchy last season, he got six but could genuinely have got 10 goals,” Rowett said ahead of tonight’s game at Preston. “He seems to get a set-piece chance every game and we saw that at Wycombe, he hit the bar on a coupple of occasions from set-pieces.
“You look at the likes of Coops, Hutch, they should get probably 10 goals between them every season, which would be an incredible total to have in your team from set-plays.
“Where we need to be better is we need other players to step up, like we’ve spoken about.
“It’s not just the forwards, we’ve seen it with Ryan Leonard scoring a couple of times already this season.
“We just need one or two other players to be a little bit more consistent in front of goal as well.”
