DAVID Forde and Aiden O’Brien started as Millwall U21s battled to a scoreless draw against Charlton at Bromley’s Hayes Lane ground on Monday afternoon.
Sid Nelson, Fred Onyedinma, Jack Powell and Jamie Philpot were also involved as the Lions just failed to cut the eight-point gap to the Addicks at the top of the table.
Charlton goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov kept out a Philpot effort in the 15th minute before Forde dived full length to his right to push away Ayo Obileye’s 25-yard free-kick.
Philpot (pictured, above) had another chance eight minutes into the second half but saw his half-volley go over the bar.
Millwall had a chance to win the game in the last http://vhealthportal.com/product-category/blood-pressure/ minute but Mitov saved again to deny Kris Twardek after the winger had turned Philpot’s cross towards goal.
The Lions also handed a trial to 19-year-old Ben Swift, who started at left-back in Justin Skinner’s starting XI.
Swift was given a one-year professional deal by Aston Villa last March after joining from Maidstone United.
The result leaves Skinner’s side second in Professional Development League 2, eight points off their south London rivals but with a game in hand.
