MILLWALL have won their last two league games and centre-backs Byron Webster and Shaun Hutchinson scored as Neil Harris’ side won 2-1 at Shrewsbury on Tuesday.
Gillingham, on the other hand, are in a perilous situation and sit just two places and two points outside the relegation zone.
Manager Adrian Pennock has not had the impact many hoped he would – Gillingham are three points closer to the drop zone than they were when they sacked Justin Edinburgh in January.
They will also be without the services of key midfielder Bradley Dack this weekend after his red card at MK Dons last Saturday.
Lucas Ball spoke to Gills fan Harry Lynch ahead of Saturday’s all-important clash at Priestfield.
Why do you support Gillingham?: My cousin is a Gills fan and for his birthday me, him and a few other mates went to a cup game against Middlesborough.
I remember meeting loads of the players and it was so exciting to be meeting professional footballers.
Even though we lost the game, the atmosphere was still amazing and from then on I knew Gillingham was the club for me. Also, they are one of the only professional teams that plays near where I live.
Will Gills have enough about them to stay up?: We have lost our last four games and this is not what a team needs when they are in a relegation battle.
Shrewsbury have also lost their last four games, so if we can pull together some results then we might stay up.
But Swindon have won their last two so I think we could quite easily be dragged into the bottom four.
Defensively we aren’t good enough. The loss of John Egan [who joined Brentford last summer] killed us and that’s what has caused this relegation battle.
Personally, I think we will get relegated as the players are not in great form and teams below us are starting to get results.
Is confidence an issue with the side on the back of the recent poor run?: I think confidence is a big issue in some of the players, they are worried about making a mistake and costing us games.
But, at this stage of the season, they need to take more risks as this can get us the results we need. I also feel that some players don’t have the right attitude and some just don’t have the right work ethic.
Who are the danger men for Gillingham without the main man Bradley Dack?: Our main two players (not including Bradley Dack) are Josh Wright and Cody McDonald.
Josh Wright is one of the only players who can say he has done his best this season, he has scored some crucial goals and is a leader. Cody McDonald may not have scored loads of goals this season, but he is a good finisher when given the chance. If we just start giving him better service then we could start getting some results.
Who will Gillingham have to look out for from the Millwall side?: Millwall’s front two always provide a threat whether it’s Aiden O’Brien and Steve Morison or one of those two with Lee Gregory.
With Shane Ferguson and Jed Wallace hitting form, they will be provided with good service, and can look forward to battling against our poor defence.
Shaun Hutchinson has come back into the side and done well too, so it could be hard to break down your defence.
What formation and line-up do you expect Gillingham to play?: 4-4-2: Tomas Holy; Deji Oshilaja, Max Ehmer, Zesh Rehman, Ryan Jackson; Lee Martin, Josh Wright, Mark Byrne, Ollie Muldoon; Harry Cornick, Cody McDonald.
Finally, a score prediction?: Gillingham 0-2 Millwall.
Your play-off ambitions are more of an exciting prospect for the players, so I think Millwall will be up for it more, with a good away following behind them.
