MILLWALL manager Neil Harris has said that Shane Ferguson is free to leave the club this summer.
The 26-year-old has one-year left on his current contract but fell out of favour last season after the arrival of Ben Marshall on-loan from Wolves in January.
Ferguson started nine Championship games last term and featured just twice in the league in the final few months of the season.
Harris said: “I think Fergie falls into the category of, what does he want to do. If his future is here, great.
“Firstly, he is a fantastic character, secondly, training wise, he is superb on the training pitch and thirdly, he is a good player.
“Fergie has played a lot of games in the last few years and last year he was disappointed that he didn’t play as much.
“He didn’t get as many opportunities as he would have wanted, because of the form of Aiden O’Brien and Ben Marshall.
“I had a really clear conversation with Fergie that the ball is in his court.
“I have always been honest with the players. If they want to leave because they want to go and play 45 games somewhere, then I will certainly have that discussion with them, if the deal fits for everybody.
“If Fergie wants to stay and fight for his place, then I would love to have him.
“Watch this space and see what unfolds over the coming weeks.”
