Labour’s Neil Coyle has retained Bermondsey and Old Southwark tonight, with more than 31,000 votes.
Coyle, who was first elected to the seat in 2015, successfully saw off a challenge from the Liberal Democrats’ Humaira Ali, who got 15, 597 votes.
The Conservatives’ candidate, Andrew Baker, got 9, 678 votes, while the Brexit Party’s Alex Matthews achieved 1, 617.
The result has put paid to Liberal Democrat hopes of taking back Bermondsey and Old Southwark, which had been held by the Lib Dem’s Simon Hughes until 2015.
