It is believed that a man may have taken his own life after his body was found in the early hours of this morning in Southwark Park.
Police have said the death is being treated as unexpected but not-suspicious. The man’s next-of-kin has been informed. A post-mortem examination will take place as soon as possible.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
The unnamed man was found by a dog-walker in the Bermondsey park at about 4.30am on this morning (Thursday June 23). Police and ambulance crews were called and pronounced the man dead.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “Police were called at 04:42hrs on Thursday, 23 June to reports of an unresponsive man in Southwark Park, Hawkstone Road.”
“Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended. The man was pronounced dead at 05:05hrs.”
