A popular park cafe, run by a Bermondsey woman, is hosting a fundraiser for a women’s aid charity.
Bell Zeki, 54, fulfilled her dream of running her own little cafe three years ago and says she wanted to give back. And she says she felt that it was only right to give back to a charity that helps women.
The event this Friday, July 14 from 5 pm at Bell’s Cafe in Bermondsey Spa Gardens, is being held to raise money for Solace.
“I work 7:30 am until 9:30 pm every day, seven days a week. It is hard, but I love it, working for the community. I try to help everyone.
“So that’s why I decided to do something for ladies on their own.”
This small community cafe in a Bermondsey park has got rave reviews from locals
The money from the event will go to Solace Women’s Aid – a charity that offers free advice and support to women and children in London to build safe and strong lives.
“Solace does great work for women. A lot of women who are on their own need help and it isn’t always there from local authorities,” said Bell.
At the party, Bell said there will be dancing, karaoke and food. The only rule – “no boys allowed,” Bell added.
