Developer British Land wants to build two new ‘logistic hubs’ off Old Kent Road which they say will “speed up deliveries” for local people.
‘Logistic hubs’ is a catch-all term for buildings that help companies with the storage and transportation of goods.
British Land is inviting locals to give feedback on their plans for sites on Mandela Way and Verney Road before it submits a planning application to Southwark Council.
Online exhibitions will be posted online for the Verney Road and Mandela Way sites from Friday March 3 to March 19.
There will also be in-person consultation events on March 4 at 231 Old Kent Road, London, and Links Community Centre, Rotherhithe New Road on Saturday, March 11.
People are invited to view the plans and contact British Land with their questions, concerns and feedback.
If approved, the developer said they would create 500 jobs during construction and 700 jobs once operational.
A spokesperson for British Land said: “Subject to planning approval, these new hubs on Mandela Way and Verney Road will help fulfil the demand from logistics businesses for high quality and well-located industrial space in London.
“They will provide flexible space for a range of users and help them to speed up deliveries to local residents and businesses.”
