Dropped Tea Theatre is a newly-formed, female-led theatre company that are centring stories about local people and histories in Peckham and Camberwell.
They are also currently seeking people who have a connection to the area and are looking for someone with an interest in the arts and telling their story for a paid opportunity to be part of a weekend of performances.
Driven by uncovering untold stories, Dropped Tea, led by local theatre-makers Jesse Bateson, Eva Bradley-Williams and Nassy Konan, firmly centres the voices, memories and experiences of people with a longstanding connection to the area against the backdrop of a changing urban landscape and gentrification.
Contributions will form part of an upcoming series of performances planned for September and supported by Theatre Peckham, celebrating the surprising, the familiar and the meaning of home which will involve acclaimed local writers and creatives.
Applicants interested in any discipline (writing, poetry, movement, music, etc.) are welcome to apply with previous experience in the arts not a requirement. A fee of £500 for one week is available with submissions open until 25 May 2021.
Eva, Jess and Nassy of Dropped Tea said: “We’ve all grown up around Peckham and Camberwell, and so we’ve seen first hand how it’s changed which is why we’re so passionate about platforming local stories that might otherwise be lost. After a turbulent year we’re excited to be able to offer this opportunity to a local creative and use art and culture to bring people together again, support local businesses and celebrate in our own backyard.”
