MILLWALL’S move for Bartosz Bialkowski is currently “off” after a “complication” with the Ipswich Town goalkeeper’s medical.
Bialkowski, 31, was at Millwall last week hoping to complete the transfer with all terms agreed with the Polish international and his club.
On Millwall’s first day of pre-season training on Tuesday morning, Lions boss Neil Harris provided an update on the proposed deal.
“We agreed a substantial fee with Ipswich for Bart. He was in my office, paperwork was signed and agreed, terms were agreed with the player,” Harris said.
“He’s a fantastic character, real nice lad. Everything was okay with Ipswich, but there was a complication with the medical, which has led to complications with the deal.
“As we stand at the moment the deal is off.”
Meanwhile, Tractor Boys boss Paul Lambert told East Anglian Daily Times Bialkowski could start the season at Ipswich. There’s a massive chance, a huge chance.
“I’ve never thought anything else. It never really worried me what’s going on,” Lambert said.
“We had a chat at the end of the season. He’s a good guy, no problem. He played fantastically well against Leeds.
“Until somebody says there is a massive amount of money on the table…”
Lambert was asked if reports that a fee and personal terms had been agreed were untrue and responded: “No… I’ve just come back from holiday. I had a chat with him yesterday. I know Millwall were interested and everything that’s going on. Other than that I don’t know.
“He’s our player and he’s training with us this morning, unless he’s got a body double. I’m sure it’s Bart that’s here.”
