MILLWALL return to The Den for the first of two crunch Championship matches in five days.
Fulham visit The Den on Wednesday but first West Brom come to SE16, with Millwall looking to upset another one of the promotion contenders. The Lions have so far defeated Leeds, Brentford and Preston at home and picked up wins at Bristol City, Swansea and Derby.
Alex Grace caught up with Baggies fan Sarah Rudge this week.
Why do you support West Brom?
I was born and raised in West Brom and lived in the area my whole life. Also, the majority of my family are Albion fans so it was inevitable, really.
What’s been your favourite season following the Baggies?
There have been a few which have been memorable for different reasons. The first time we got promoted to the Premier League in 2002, the Great Escape in 2005 and also the season we were close to getting into Europe in the top flight under Tony Pulis.
And the worst?
I would probably have to say when we got relegated a couple of seasons ago. There were so many horrible incidents throughout the season which affected us.
Last season on the whole was more enjoyable, but the way in which we lost to Aston Villa (our bitter rivals) – that was an extremely bitter pill to swallow.
Form has dropped off with just one win in the last eight league games – are you concerned?
Well, we had a much-improved performance against Luton, but with no disrespect they are definitely a team we should be beating at home.
Although our form has been poor we’ve had injuries and suspensions to deal with and the busy Christmas period is always a difficult time for most teams in the Championship.
The January transfer window has now closed – were you happy with the business West Brom managed to do?
Yes, definitely.
There were some “bigger names” rumoured in the media but Callum Robinson, Kamil Grosicki and Lee Peltier all have Championship experience and that is vital at this stage of the season.
Are you confident the Baggies will win promotion?
As a West Brom fan you are never confident of anything! Do I think our squad is good enough? Absolutely. If we play to our full potential we are more than a match for any team in this division, in my opinion.
How have you rated Millwall’s season to date?
It started off a little inconsistent but in the last couple of months Gary Rowett seems to have really turned your fortunes around.
You’re ninth in the table and pushing for the play-offs, and that’s credit to your manager and players.
What are your thoughts on Rowett?
There have been mixed opinions on Rowett but I saw a lot of what he did at Birmingham City and he did very well there with limited funds, he did impress me.
His time at Stoke didn’t go as well as he would have liked but in all honesty they have still struggled despite his departure.
If you could sign one Millwall player who would it be and why?
Jed Wallace is a player that impresses me and has been a key player for you. He also has a lot of Championship experience and is alerting big clubs.
Will you be at the game?
Yes, I will be at the game.
What is your predicted West Brom starting XI and formation?
4-2-3-1: Johnstone; O’Shea, Ajayi, Bartley, Townsend; Livermore, Sawyers; Phillips, Robinson, Pereira; Robson-Kanu.
I think Matheus Pereira has to come back into the side following his suspension, which is harsh on Filip Krovinovic who has been impressive in his absence. I also think Hal Robson-Kanu will replace Charlie Austin, who looked a little off the pace against Luton.
Finally, a score prediction?
Our away form has been fantastic so I will stick my neck on the line and go for 2-1 to West Brom, though it could quite easily be an entertaining score draw.
