BOLTON boss Phil Parkinson felt his side could have had a more comfortable win over Millwall in their relegation six-pointer on Saturday.
Bolton were 2-0 up by the hour mark through goals from Pawel Olkowski and Gary O’Neil and could have added to their lead as Jordan Archer saved from Will Buckley and then Joe Williams shot over.
Lee Gregory scored in the 87th minute but Millwall slipped to their fourth consecutive league defeat.
Bolton are now just four points behind Millwall, who dropped to 21st in the Championship after Reading’s win over Wigan.
“It was a great win for us,” Parkinson said. “We know what Millwall are all about.
“First half we had the better moments and first half we looked good when we got Sammy [Ameobi] on the ball. But at half-time I said to the lads, ‘we have done okay but we can do better’. I thought we raised our game 10 per cent, each individual, and it was a terrific 15 minutes after half-time where we got the goals.
“We could have had more after that, could have killed the game off. Millwall’s late goal is frustrating because [goalkeeper] Remi [Matthews] deserved a clean sheet, the whole team did.
“But after last week, getting beat at Swansea with two men sent off, it was one of the quietest coach journeys I have been involved in for quite some time.
“The week we have had again, to respond again, the dream is well and truly alive.”
