MILLWALL stalwart Jimmy Abdou and defender Shaun Cummings are set to leave the club.
Midfielder Abdou – who has been with Millwall since 2008 after joining from Plymouth and has played 342 times for the Lions – has turned down a new deal.
Former Reading defender Cummings has also rejected new terms and will seek a move away.
Both players are out of contract.
Abdou played in the last four games of the season as Millwall clinched a play-off place on the last day and then won promotion through the play-offs after beating Bradford at Wembley.
Abdou, 32, played just 22 games all season, though, and Millwall have bid for Southend midfielder Ryan Leonard, whom they see as a younger option for next season’s Championship campaign.
Cummings, 28, featured 23 times in 2016-17 after only playing his first game in November following 11 months out with a knee injury.
He scored two iconic FA Cup goals as Millwall knocked out AFC Bournemouth and Leicester City on their way to the quarter-finals of the competition.
But Millwall boss Neil Harris has accepted that he may have to plan for next season without the experienced pair, and he is looking at alternative options.
“With Shaun and Jimmy, both turned initial contracts down,” Harris said. “Which they are more than entitled to do – they are both out of contract.
“Both played key parts at times last year, we know those players will be looking at options elsewhere, as I am as a manager.
“I’m looking at different personnel to come in for those positions.”
