GARY Rowett has reiterated that he has no intentions of selling any players in January – despite the possible threat of Neil Harris after the former Millwall manager was appointed Cardiff boss.
Harris was hired by the south Wales outfit on Saturday and could have possibly been interested in signing a couple of his former players, given how highly he spoke of the Lions squad. But that’s not how Rowett sees things panning out.
The Millwall chief said: “It’s like any manager of any Championship team, they can look at any player they want, but at this moment in time we are not in a position where we are looking to sell anybody, certainty in January.
“We might be in a position where we are looking to bring in one or two – and that’s it.”
Rowett, who has also managed Birmingham City, Derby County and Stoke City in the Championship admitted that it’s sometimes easier to sign players you’ve previously worked with, but underlined the fact that Millwall won’t be doing any business with the Bluebirds.
He said: “I have done it before myself. When you leave a club and you know players and you have worked with players, of course it is easier to work with those players, based on the fact that you have got a good understanding of what they will give you.
“But, I am sure Neil will have enough to look at in terms of the Cardiff squad and different types of players. All I can say is, whilst I get on really well with Neil, we are certainty not looking to do any dealings with Cardiff or any other club in January.”
