MILLWALL boss Neil Harris appears to have ruled out adding another centre-back to the squad before the end of the loan transfer window on November 25.
The Lions learned this week that captain Tony Craig is likely to miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery recently on the knee injury he suffered against Bradford.
But Harris has said that he is happy with his current defensive options with Sid Nelson, Byron Webster and Mark Beevers competing for the two centre-back slots and cover in other back four positions.
He also believes players such as Keaton Wood could step up from the U21 side if needed.
“Defensively we’ve certainly got three talented centre-halves that all want to play and be in the team,” Harris said.
“At full-back we’re okay with Shaun Cummings, Carlos Edwards, Joe Martin and Shane Ferguson who can play there. We’ve also got the versatility of Shaun Williams, who can slide into the backline.
“Couple that with an U21 side that haven’t conceded many goals in 12 league games. There are people there that we wouldn’t be afraid to chuck in and give them some exposure. So, I’m not concerned with the numbers we’ve got at the moment.”
