NEIL HARRIS will check on the fitness of a number of players before the League One clash with Sheffield United this weekend.
Shaun Williams missed the 5-1 defeat at Peterborough on Tuesday night after receiving a blow to the head in the 2-2 draw at MK Dons at the weekend.
David Worrall was left on the bench at ABAX Stadium as he had a tight hamstring, but he was ready to come on had the game been in the balance. Harris decided there was no point risking him with Peterborough so comfortably ahead.
Shaun Hutchinson also looked like he suffered a reoccurrence of his hamstring injury minutes entering the fray to make his competitive debut.
Harris felt Millwall missed Williams’ control in midfield as they Lions were over-run in that area by Peterborough.
“Shaun came back and looked fabulous in pre-season and at the start of the season, he’s started with real desire,” Harris said. “We missed his calmness on the ball and his organisational skills without the ball.
“Shaun, when he is on the pitch, he calms everybody down, and we missed that.”
Meanwhile, Harris explained what he said to Aiden O’Brien after withdrawing the attacker in the second half of the Posh defeat.
Harris spent about 30 seconds talking to O’Brien on the sideline, but it was only to console and encourage the Irishman after a frustrating evening.
Harris said: “Aiden has been brilliant for me and (Tuesday night) was a great learning curve for him and the whole team, as well as the staff, me included.
“I just said to Aiden that he has been brilliant but the ball didn’t quite drop for him. He has a bright future at this football club but he has to learn from this, as we all do.
“We have to move on, there’s no point dwelling on it.”
