MILLWALL could announce this week that they have agreed a new contract with Byron Webster.
Webster’s current deal runs out at the end of June but he was offered new terms early in the summer.
Webster, 31, is set to sign until June 2019. Millwall’s policy on players over 30 is one-year contract extensions.
Centre-back Webster hasn’t played for Millwall since he suffered cruciate ligament damage in his knee against Barnsley last September.
But he has been at Millwall’s training base on Calmont Road for a number of weeks building up his fitness, and was with the rest of the squad for the start of pre-season training on Monday.
“Byron is with the group. We spoke to Byron first thing this morning, he’s really happy,” Lions boss Neil Harris said.
“We’re all delighted to see him back in the training kit and ready to join the group. We’re pretty much 99 per cent there with agreeing a contract. There’s just one small detail.
“The time of year has just meant that myself, [Millwall CEO] Steve Kavanagh, Byron and his agent haven’t been able to get together to iron out the very last detail.
“Hopefully that will be done and there will be an announcement on Byron very soon”.
