MILLWALL have fended off competition from three Championship clubs to sign Ben Marshall on loan from Wolves.
Marshall, 26, has joined until the end of the season and becomes Millwall’s fourth January signing following Jason Shackell, Harry Toffolo and Tim Cahill to the club.
Marshall has played just nine times for Wolves this season. He joined them in January 2017 from Blackburn, where he enjoyed the best football of his career, scoring 15 goals in 140 appearances.
He came through the youth academy at Crewe before joining Stoke in 2009. He made his senior professional debut for Northampton that year, before further loan spells at Cheltenham, Carlisle and Sheffield Wednesday.
Leicester signed him for £1million in January 2012 before a reported £2million fee took him from Rovers to Wolves a year ago.
He was a regular with the current league leaders last season under Paul Lambert, who signed him, but Nuno Santo’s appointment and Wolves’ continued heavy investment in attacking talent has seen him fall down the pecking order this campaign.
Marshall will give Lions boss Neil Harris an extra option on the right or left of midfield and he could feature against Reading next weekend.
