MILLWALL are chasing Reading right back Shaun Cummings as Ian Holloway looks to bolster his defence during the January transfer window.
Cummings, 25, is on the fringes at the Madejski Stadium and it is understood new Royals boss Steve Clarke would be prepared to let him go at the right price.
The former Chelsea trainee has played in the Premier League for the Berkshire side but is currently behind Welsh international Chris Gunter in the pecking order.
Cummings is one of several enquiries Holloway has followed up in recent days and talks are ongoing with Reading over a fee.
But a possible loan swoop for left-sided centre back Ignasi Miquel, 22, has fallen by the wayside after a change of manager at Norwich City.
Meanwhile, talks were continuing yesterday with Charlton striker Simon Church after a loan deal until the end of the season was agreed between the two clubs.
Holloway spoke to Church on Wednesday morning about moving to The Den.
The Lions are also pressing for an answer after tabling a formal offer to Stefan Maierhofer.
The Austrian played a key role in the club’s Championship survival last year but is also understood to be considering moves to the Middle East and Australia.
NewsAtDen understands that Holloway is ready to sign both Church and Maierhofer if negotiations with the duo reach successful conclusions.
Saturday’s opponents Blackpool are keen on midfielder Richard Chaplow.
