MILLWALL’S George Evans is set to be available for transfer this summer.
Evans, 28, has struggled to nail down a regular place in Gary’s Rowett’s side since joining from Derby County in the 2021 winter transfer window.
Former Manchester City academy product Evans has made 53 Championship appearances for the Lions, 31 of them starts. He has scored two goals.
Evans can play in central midfield or at the back, but is down the pecking order in both areas.
Evans made 13 appearances in all competitions last season, the last of them as an 89th-minute substitute in the 3-2 defeat to Norwich City at The Den on March 4.
Rowett was asked by NewsAtDen about Evans’ future.
“George is one that I’ve had a few conversations with. He’s trained brilliantly, he’s been incredibly professional every single day,” Rowett said.
“And it’s not easy when you’re turning up and not getting regular game-time.
“He’s the sort of player who deserves to play more regularly. Of course we’ll look at that situation to see if we can help him play those games out somewhere.
“Whatever it looks like for him next season I think he needs to play, whether that’s with us or elsewhere.
“Like I said, he’s a great lad, he fits really well into the group. We’ll always try to help someone like Evo if he gets an opportunity.”
