MILLWALL fell to an agonising FA Youth Cup third round defeat to London rivals Chartlon Athletic at The Valley last night.
The young Lions went a goal behind when Chris Millar cracked home a half-volley in the 67th minute before Lewis White equalised just five minutes later.
Charlton are top of the U18 Professional Development League Two but they couldn’t break down the resilient away side and the game went into extra-time.
Matt Day had the chance to put Millwall ahead in the 108th minute but pulled his shot wide, before Harry Girling produced two late saves to send the tie to penalties.
Former Arsenal midfielder Harry Donovan and Noah Chesmain, who made his senior debut for Neil Harris’ side in the 1-0 over Bury last Saturday, converted their spot-kicks.
But Jordan Beeney saved twice and Charlton were successful with all four of their efforts to send Larry McAvoy and David Connolly’s side out of the competition.
