MILLWALL boss Neil Harris said his players will take the opportunity to “recharge the batteries” before the meeting with Coventry on Saturday, with this the first week since the season started they haven’t had a game on a Tuesday night.
Harris gave the squad Sunday and Monday off before they returned to training on Tuesday to begin preparations for the clash with the Sky Blues.
Shane Ferguson and Jimmy Abdou have returned after international duty but won’t join in training until Thursday.
Harris felt the busy early fixture list, when Millwall played nine games in 28 days, resulted in a lethargic performance in the first half against Bradford on Saturday when they fell behind to a Byron Webster own goal before Joe Martin scored the equaliser after the break.
Harris said: “I thought on Saturday we were okay without the ball but, having watched it back, I stand by what I said that we weren’t good on the ball.
“I don’t think were very bright in the mind, very proactive. The players worked tirelessly again throughout the game as they always do. But we weren’t very sharp and that comes down to a lot of players playing a lot of minutes.
“We’ve had a lot of continuous sessions, day after day. But this week gives us the opportunity to recharge the batteries, give the players a couple of days off to spend with their families.
“And it also gives us an opportunity to just get back to some basics, to just remind ourselves about good habits, that’s key.”
