JON Dadi Bodvarsson wants to be Millwall’s main man up front – but is happy to do a job for the team wherever he is required.
The Lions travel to Birmingham on Saturday looking to make it two away wins in a row. Bodvarsson started as the central striker in a 5-2-3 system in the 1-0 victory at Swansea last weekend.
Bodvarsson then moved to the left side of the attack when Matt Smith came on.
The Iceland international arrived at Millwall not fully fit in the summer, but not believes he’s up to speed.
“It’s not the beginning you want to have,” Bodvarsson admitted. “Now I feel like I’m fitter and not catching up anymore, it gives me more confidence going ahead. The beginning was slow and I had to grind through it and get there.
“I’ve been there before with two strikers or one up top. The main thing for me in that Swansea game was to try to help get the team up the pitch and play as high as possible. I feel like it went well.
“Connor Mahoney and Jed [Wallace] were also close to me so I had support and people to play to and bring them higher up the pitch.
“I feel fitter than in the beginning of the season. I’ve had more games here and with the national team.
“When I was young I played for a very long time as a right winger. I still know that position from my early years. I prefer being up top but if needed I can play on the wing.
“I would say my strengths are best up front.”
