SID Nelson says Millwall’s Good Friday clash with rivals Charlton is the first of seven “derbies” for the Lions as they fight to stay in the Championship.
The Lions, who host the Addicks at The Den this week, are seven points adrift of safety in the Championship heading into the final run-in.
But Nelson believes that a unified dressing room under interim boss Neil Harris, coupled with improved performances in recent weeks, will lead to results.
“Every game between now and the end of the season is going to feel like a derby for us,” Nelson said.
“Given the way we’re now playing and the way training has been going under Chopper, I feel there’s a unity in the dressing room and we’re all really looking forward to Charlton.
“The fans want to see the Millwall way – a Millwall side playing proper football.
“That doesn’t mean playing out from the back, over-playing and passing into stupid areas, the fans want to see 100 percent passion, hard work and commitment.
“If you do those three things, then the rest follows.”
Nelson, who could line-up for the first time against the Addicks at senior level, feels he is adjusting well to first-team football.
“Not looking out of place is the biggest thing for me,” he said.
“When I first broke into the team, I felt like a young boy who was living the dream – I didn’t really feel part of it.
“Now I’m tight with the squad. Fitting in has helped.”
