BEN Amos could make his Millwall debut when the Lions face Cambridge United on Saturday.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper completed his move to Millwall last Friday and joined his new team-mates in Portugal.
Amos will compete with Jordan Archer and David Martin for the stopper’s jersey, and Neil Harris will likely take the opportunity to give him some action at the Abbey Stadium.
Harris said on Friday that Shaun Hutchinson and James Meredith could feature at Cambridge. Hutchinson missed the 5-0 win over Dartford with a slight injury while Meredith has returned to full training following his World Cup involvement with Australia.
Harris has played Conor McLaughlin at left-back during pre-season, while Shane Ferguson is also an option in that position.
Byron Webster is in contention to start after playing the second half in the 5-0 win at Dartford two weeks ago.
Young right-backs Danny McNamara and James Brown will also be eager to be involved, though face a challenge to force their way into first-team reckoning for the start of the season in one of the most competitive positions in Millwall’s squad.
Under-23 regulars Mason Saunders-Henry and Isaac Olaofe will also be getting closer to discovering their position in the pecking order. They both featured at Dartford but with just three friendlies left this pre-season Harris’ line-ups will soon start indicating what he sees as his first-choice XI.
Harris should have no other injury concerns ahead of this weekend, with an abundance of attacking options to choose from up front.
Former Millwall goalkeeper David Forde could face some of his old team-mates. The 38-year-old triggered another year in his contract last season to remain with the club until 2019.
