JIMMY Abdou and Aiden O’Brien have returned to full training but may not be ready to start against Barnsley tonight.
Joe Martin is still out with an ankle injury but Neil Harris reported no new concerns ahead of the clash at The Den.
The squad were brought in for training on Sunday after the 4-0 defeat to Coventry the previous day and, while Harris admitted there was some dejection, he was happy with the response he saw.
The Millwall boss also stressed he had no problem with the work-rate of his players against Tony Mowbray’s side.
“The boys were a bit despondent on Sunday,” he said. “But I look back on the match and there was no lack of effort from the group.
“The attitude was right but the performance individually and tactically wasn’t. We got things wrong, but we’ve got a group that wants to learn.
“They will learn, but they’ve got to do it fast or they don’t play. That’s the harsh reality of it.
“We came in Sunday with the idea that it gives us the best opportunity to prepare for Tuesday’s game. I think that was the right thing to do.
“We’ve worked on our gameplan for Tuesday and the team shape for Barnsley.
“I think sometimes it’s refreshing to have the honesty of players when they make mistakes.
“It’s great to have players who will put their hands up and say, ‘I made a mistake there, wrong decision.’
“But then you have to learn, that’s the key thing. It’s how they respond, and they want to learn.
“We’ve looked at it and we’ll address a number of areas in preparation for Tuesday evening.”
Harris has some crucial decisions to make regarding his line-up for tonight. Ben Thompson was impressive when he came on in central midfield and could start in place of Lee Martin with Ed Upson shifting to the left.
Shane Ferguson replaced Mark Beevers at half-time on Saturday and Harris may feel he offers the side a better attacking outlet on the left.
Barnsley, meanwhile, arrive in south London after a 1-0 win over Burton Albion last weekend and manager Lee Johnson is looking forward to the atmosphere at The Den.
He said: “I’ve played there before. It takes a certain type of character to be able to produce on a stage like that when you’re getting pelters (sic) from all angles.
“I’ll get a few. We’ve had our history. In fact last time I was there the whole east stand started singing, ‘Hi ho, hi ho, it’s off the work we go!’
“So we have our bit of friendly banter, they’ll be up for it and I’d expect nothing less.
“It’ll be a tough game for them and a tough game for us. I’ve got a young group but I’m going to tell them to go there and express themselves.”
